KINESIOLOGY

A health profession that specializes in the science of human movement and exercise. Kinesiologists often work in collaboration with other healthcare providers using their knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and exercise science to help manage and prevent musculoskeletal issues and movement-related problems and work to improve client’s overall physical well-being and performance.

 

Services provided:

  • Exercise prescription: personalized exercise programs for clients based on their specific needs and goals. These programs may focus on rehabilitation after injuries, improving athletic performance, and reaching personal health goals.
  • Supervised exercise programming: one on one time with a Certified exercise physiologist providing evidence-based strength and conditioning interventions, movement analysis feedback, health and lifestyle education, and motivation.
  • Injury Rehabilitation: Regain functional movement through targeted exercises and therapies to help in the recovery process post-injury.
  • Movement analysis: assessment of movement patterns to identify any imbalances, weaknesses, or dysfunctions that could lead to injury or negatively impact performance.
  • Chronic disease management: in collaboration with Physical therapists, Kinesiologists assist clients with chronic conditions like arthritis, diabetes, or heart disease, using exercise as a means to manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
  • Sports performance enhancement: sport specific physical activity interventions to enhance athletic ability, optimize sport performance, and reduce the risk of injury.
  • Functional movement screening: conduct assessments to evaluate an individual’s overall movement patterns and functional abilities.
  • Health education: Provide education on exercise and health-related topics.
  • Mobile sessions: All Kinesiology services can be accessed in your home or work environment.

Not a one size fits all approach:

Clients can choose various programming options, ranging from general advice on how to move more, reduce sedentary time, and sleep well, to the development of comprehensive training programs focused on advancing specific health, fitness, or performance goals.

Our Kinesiologists

Jocelyn LeBlanc

Jocelyn graduated from the college of Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan in June of 2023. Her education in human kinetics and movement has made her passionate about helping people recover from injury, enhance their sport performance, and functionally move through the world with confidence. It is important to Jocelyn to meet each client where they are and support them in reaching their individual health goals by establishing and sustainable and long-term healthy lifestyle habits. Jocelyn enjoys working with all populations and her approach is rooted in evidence-based practices when delivering exercise prescription, rehab programming, and health education. Her background in competitive figure skating has afforded her a deep understanding of human movement and physical well-being and the vital nature these have on the mind and body and she is excited to share this knowledge with her clients. Outside of the clinic Jocelyn is a figure skating coach as well as a yoga and meditation facilitator!
