Pelvic floor physiotherapy treats pelvic floor dysfunction such as pelvic pain, pelvic girdle issues, painful intercourse, bladder and /or bowel incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, preparing for vaginal delivery, and guidance on returning to activity and daily routine postpartum.

Pelvic floor dysfunction can be due to an underactive pelvic floor which contributes to pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence, OR and overactive pelvic floor which contributes to chronic or acute pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, vaginismus, vulvodynia, pudendal neuralgia, interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome, endometriosis, chronic prostatitis, urinary and fecal urgency and urge incontinence. You can also have a combination of under and overactive pelvic floor muscles. In these cases, the overactive muscles will be treated first.
